NEW YORK, July 28, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Columbia Records – 'Chapter and Verse,' the audio companion to Bruce Springsteen's extraordinary forthcoming autobiography, will be released Sept. 23 on Columbia Records. The career-spanning compilation will be released four days before Simon & Schuster publishes 'Born to Run.' Five of the album's 18 tracks have not been previously released.
Springsteen selected the songs on 'Chapter and Verse' to reflect the themes and sections of 'Born to Run.' The compilation begins with two tracks from The Castiles, featuring a teenaged Springsteen on guitar and vocals, and ends with the title track from 2012's 'Wrecking Ball.' The collected songs trace Springsteen's musical history from its earliest days, telling a story that parallels the one in the book.
Recordings from Steel Mill and The Bruce Springsteen Band feature musicians who would go on to play in The E Street Band. Solo demos of "Henry Boy" and "Growin' Up" were cut in 1972 shortly before Springsteen began recording his debut album, 'Greetings From Asbury Park, N.J.'
'Chapter and Verse' will be available as a single CD and double LP, as well as via digital download and streaming. The package will include lyrics and rare photos. 'Chapter & Verse' will be available for preorder on Friday, July 29.

American Music Legend Honors His Friend and Fellow Country Icon With Fresh Interpretation of 12 Classic Songs Ray Price Made Famous
Jul 26, 2016
NEW YORK, July 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment, will release Willie Nelson's latest album, For The Good Times: A Tribute To Ray Price, on Friday, September 16.
On his new album, Willie has teamed up with a pair of longtime friends--producer Fred Foster and conductor/arranger Bergen White--who, like Nelson, are American country music veterans with deep connections to the legendary Ray Price. Foster and White worked together to complete Ray Price's final album, Beauty Is..., at Nashville's Ocean Way Studios, where Willie Nelson has returned to create the magic of For The Good Times: A Tribute To Ray Price.
For The Good Times: A Tribute To Ray Price celebrates the wide-reaching impact and influence of Ray Price on American pop and country music, from Price's hallmark lush orchestral arrangements (presaging "countrypolitan") to the patented "Ray Price Shuffle," the groundbreaking 4/4 walking bass line which transformed honky-tonk and country-western swing music in 1950s on hits like "Crazy Arms."
Providing musical backup for Willie on six of the album's tracks--"Invitation To The Blues," "Heartaches By The Numbers," "Crazy Arms," "City Lights," "I'll Be There" and "Don't You Ever Get Tired Of Hurting Me"--Willie is joined by The Time Jumpers, the Grammy-nominated Western Swing dream team comprised of Vince Gill (electric and acoustic guitar, harmony vocals), Andy Reiss (electric guitar), Larry Franklin (fiddle), Joe Spivey (fiddle), Kenny Sears (fiddle), Brad Albin (bass), Billy Thomas (drums), Jeff Taylor (piano and accordion), Paul Franklin (pedal steel) and Willie's Family Band harmonica player Mickey Raphael.
For the orchestral tracks on For The Good Times: A Tribute To Ray Price, the Nashville String Machine, a full ensemble featuring violins, violas, cellos, string basses, sax, flute and oboe, accompanies Willie.
A seminal figure in post-WWII American country music, singer/songwriter/guitarist Ray Price began his career singing on the local Abilene, Texas radio program "Hillbilly Circus" in 1948 before joining the "Big D Jamboree" in Dallas a year later. When CBS picked up the show, Price began garnering his first national exposure. Moving to Nashville in the early 1950s, Price became friends with country music avatar Hank Williams, going on to manage the Drifting Cowboys after Hank's death in 1953. That same year, Ray Price formed his own band, the Cherokee Cowboys, a country music ensemble that would employ Willie Nelson as bassist in 1961.
Friends from their first meeting until Ray Price's passing in 2013, Willie and Ray shared a profound musical bond, exemplified in Price's hit recordings of Willie-penned songs like the career-defining "Night Life" and "It Always Will Be."
A visionary and iconoclastic artist, Ray Price defined and shifted the course of American country music over the course of his career. In the 1950s and 1960s, he kept grassroots country sounds alive through the infusion of rock 'n' roll and pop music elements, going so far as to utilize drums at a time when the Grand Ole Opry had banned them from its stage. By the late 1960s and early 1970s, Price became one of the godfathers of "countrypolitan," combining lush orchestral arrangements with smooth-as-silk crooning. Ray Price's music connected honky-tonk to big band to rock 'n' roll to country swing to pop. America's musical landscape would look and sound very different without the contributions of Ray Price.
The profound musical relationship between Willie Nelson and Ray Price goes back to 1960, when Nelson, an aspiring singer-songwriter, moved to Nashville to further his career. Willie's composition, "Night Life," became Ray Price's theme music, the song he'd use to open his shows. As Willie's star rose in the country music firmament, he continued to collaborate with Price, releasing the albums San Antonio Rose (1980), Run That by Me One More Time (2003) and Last of the Breed (2007), a trio album with Merle Haggard. Ray Price made an appearance, singing "Cold War with You," on Willie's 2012 Legacy album Heroes.
For the Good Times: A Tribute to Ray Price debuts Willie's new interpretations of 12 songs Price made famous, including "Heartaches by the Number," "Crazy Arms," "Night Life," "Faded Love" and "For the Good Times."

Lang Lang Named New York City's First Ever NYC Cultural Tourism Ambassador
PBS Special Live From Lincoln Center Coming In November
Jul 22, 2016
NEW YORK, July 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The ineffable magic of New York City fires the imagination of superstar pianist Lang Lang on his new album New York Rhapsody (Sony Classical) available September 16, 2016. He is joined by a wide array of special guests including Andra Day, Herbie Hancock, Jason Isbell, Jeffrey Wright, Kandace Springs, Lindsey Stirling, Lisa Fischer, Madeleine Peyroux and Sean Jones. From the haunting reveries of Gershwin and Copland to the in-the-moment intensity of songs made famous by Jay-Z and Alicia Keys, Lou Reed and Don Henley, New York Rhapsody rediscovers the dazzle and the soul of America's most symbolic city. Following the release of the album, a star-studded concert special Live From Lincoln Center will air on PBS on November 25, 2016 as part of the PBS Arts Fall Festival. The video for "Empire State of Mind" with Lang Lang and singer Andra Day premiered on Town & Country – view it here.
"I made this album because I wanted to pay homage to the city that I love," says Lang Lang of New York Rhapsody. "This city has changed the course of music more than any other in the last hundred years. It has inspired and enriched me beyond words and has become my home away from home."
New York City feels similarly about Lang Lang. They just named Lang Lang the city's first ever NYC Cultural Tourism ambassador. This is in partnership with NYC and Company in celebration of this year's official "China-U.S. Tourism Year" as designated by Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Barack Obama.
For New York Rhapsody, Lang Lang joined forces with Grammy-winning producer Larry Klein to create an album that embraces the musical spirit of New York in ways both surprising and traditional. Inspired by E.B. White's celebrated essay "Here Is New York," Klein assembled musical ideas and energies that both reflect New York's past and evoke its dynamic present.
The centerpiece of the album is a performance of Gershwin's Rhapsody in Blue featuring Lang Lang and multiple Grammy-winning jazz legend, Herbie Hancock in a two-piano version conducted by John Axelrod with the London Symphony Orchestra.
Surrounding it on New York Rhapsody are creative collaborations that reimagine songs reflecting the varying moods and experiences New York offers.
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, Jason Isbell gives a fresh edge to Elbow's evocative "New York Morning" and Grammy-nominated R&B singer Andra Day adds a new dimension to the Jay-Z and Alicia Keys' hit "Empire State of Mind." Kandace Springs gives a new treatment to Don Henley's moody "New York Minute." Singer Madeleine Peyroux recaptures the alone-in-the-city wistfulness of "Moon River," the Henry Mancini/Johnny Mercer classic from the essential New York movie Breakfast at Tiffany's.
In one of the album's boldest choices, co-arrangers Klein and Grammy-winner Billy Childs marry the Leonard Bernstein/Stephen Sondheim song "Somewhere" from West Side Story with Lou Reed's "Dirty Blvd" from his classic album New York. Lisa Fischer's vocal in the yearning "Somewhere" is a powerful contrast to actor Jeffrey Wright's interpretation of Lou Reed's indelible words in "Dirty Blvd."
Next, Lang Lang is joined by violinist Lindsey Stirling on a spinning version of Danny Elfman's theme for Spider-Man; and then by trumpeter Sean Jones on the West Side Story classic "Tonight" by Leonard Bernstein.
Bookending New York Rhapsody are perhaps surprising choices – quiet, contemplative pieces by New York's greatest musical poet, Aaron Copland. To open, Lang Lang and Klein chose "The Story of Our Town," from Copland's 1940 Our Town film score, to evoke the dozens of small "towns" within the big city. To close, one of Copland's last works, the rarely heard "In Evening Air," reminds us says Klein, "there are always pockets of peace and quiet beauty" in New York.

About Jeff Buckley
After working more than a decade as a session guitarist in Los Angeles, Jeff Buckley moved to New York City in the early 1990s, gathering a rabid following playing tiny venues, notably Sin-é in the East Village. His repertoire incorporated folk, rock, R&B, blues and jazz. He signed to Columbia Records, home of many of his musical heroes, in October 1992. In February 1993, he went into the studio to create the newly uncovered tracks on You and I. Jeff Buckley only completed one studio album, 1994's Grace, before his life and career ended with his tragic drowning in Memphis on May 29, 1997.
Though scant, the discography of Jeff Buckley has received universal critical accolades and continues to create new fans and followers drawn to the music of a singular visionary artist whose voice, guitar work, songwriting and interpretative skills transcended all categories.

Music by Multi-Award Winning Composer Theodore Shapiro
Jul 15, 2016
NEW YORK, July 15, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Classical proudly announces the release of Ghostbusters (Original Motion Picture Score) to accompany Sony Pictures' highly anticipated feature film Ghostbusters, in theaters July 15. Featuring a score by multi-award winning composer Theodore Shapiro, the album is available now digitally and on CD July 15.
Theodore Shapiro saw Raiders of the Lost Ark in 1981 as a nine-year old boy, and afterwards was certain of two things: one - he wanted to be an archaeologist, and two - he couldn't stop thinking about the music. His plans to be an archaeologist eventually faded, but his interest in film composition did not. He went on to study music, write a musical about a cryogenically frozen head, and play in a neo-disco band called God at Brown University, and then received a Master's degree in composition from The Juilliard School. Following Juilliard he began both scoring films and writing commissions for the concert hall, including works performed by the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Seattle Symphony, New York Chamber Symphony, and St. Paul Chamber Orchestra.
After scoring some notable independent films in New York, including Karyn Kusama's Girlfight, and David Mamet's Heist and State and Main, Shapiro was hired to score the hit comedy Old School for director Todd Phillips. He has since become one of Hollywood's most sought after composers.
His recent film work includes Spy, directed by Paul Feig and starring Melissa McCarthy; Trumbo, directed by Jay Roach and starring Bryan Cranston and Helen Mirren; The Intern, directed by Nancy Meyers and starring Robert DeNiro and Anne Hathaway; The Secret Life Of Walter Mitty (for which he won an International Film Music Critics Award); Ted Melfi's directorial debut, St Vincent, starring Bill Murray; and Infinitely Polar Bear, starring Mark Ruffalo and Zoe Saldana. He was nominated for an Emmy for his score to the HBO film, Game Change. Other notable work includes the Ben Stiller-directed action-comedy Tropic Thunder; Marley and Me, directed by David Frankel and based on the best-selling novel; The Devil Wears Prada, starring Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway; John Hamburg's bromance, I Love You, Man; and the Oscar-nominated animated film, The Pirates! Band of Misfits.
Next up for Shapiro is Why Him? starring Bryan Cranston and James Franco.
Ghostbusters makes its long-awaited return, rebooted with a cast of hilarious new characters. Thirty years after the beloved original franchise took the world by storm, director Paul Feig brings his fresh take to the supernatural comedy, joined by some of the funniest actors working today - Melissa McCarthy, Kristen Wiig, Kate McKinnon, Leslie Jones, and Chris Hemsworth. This summer, they're here to save the world!
Directed by Paul Feig, the film is produced by Ivan Reitman and Amy Pascal, and written by Katie Dippold & Paul Feig, based on the 1984 film "Ghostbusters," an Ivan Reitman film, written by Dan Aykroyd and Harold Ramis. For updates, please visit http://www.ghostbusters.com/ghostbusters-2016/.

A Collection of Music from the 1930s, Featuring Songs from Rodgers and Hart Chosen By Woody Allen and Newly Recorded for the Film by Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks
Featuring An On-Screen Performance of "Mountain Greenery" by Vocalist Kat Edmonson
Jul 8, 2016
NEW YORK, July 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Sony Classical will release the original soundtrack for Woody Allen's CAFÉ SOCIETY both digitally and on CD on July 8, 2016. The soundtrack includes a great compilation of the music from the 1930's, largely from the Rodgers and Hart, chosen by Allen and featured prominently in the film. The album includes original performances by Vince Giordano & The Nighthawks as well as the on-screen performance of "Mountain Greenery" with Sony Music Masterworks recording artist Kat Edmonson.
Set in the 1930s, Woody Allen's bittersweet romance CAFÉ SOCIETY follows Bronx-born Bobby Dorfman (Jesse Eisenberg) to Hollywood, where he falls in love, and back to New York, where he is swept up in the vibrant world of high society nightclub life. Centering on events in the lives of Bobby's colorful Bronx family, the film is a glittering valentine to the movie stars, socialites, playboys, debutantes, politicians, and gangsters who epitomized the excitement and glamour of the age. With CAFÉ SOCIETY, Woody Allen conjures up a 1930s world that has passed to tell a deeply romantic tale of dreams that never die.
The film opened the 69th annual Cannes Film Festival to rave reviews and is scheduled for release July 15. Allen becomes the first and only director to have three opening night films selected for the Cannes Film Festival (HOLLYWOOD ENDING opened in Cannes in 2002 and MIDNIGHT IN PARIS in 2011).
"The soundtrack consists of music from the 1930s, since that's when the picture takes place," Allen stated. "Most of the material is Rodgers and Hart, who are very dominant in those years, and have that bittersweet romantic quality that defines the spirit of the movie itself."
The success of CAFÉ SOCIETY wouldn't be complete without the partnership of composer Richard Rodgers and lyricist Lorenz Hart. Rodgers and Hart were an American songwriting duo that worked together on 28 stage musicals and more than 500 songs. From 1936 to 1943, the duo wrote a series of Broadway musical comedies, each of which seemed to top the one before in terms of innovation and box office success. ON YOUR TOES (1936), BABES IN ARMS (1937), I'D RATHER BE RIGHT (1937), I MARRIED AN ANGEL (1938), THE BOYS FROM SYRACUSE (1938), TOO MANY GIRLS (1939), HIGHER AND HIGHER (1940), PAL JOEY (1940), and BY JUPITER (1942) dazzled Broadway in spectacular succession, and collectively offered such classic songs as "There's A Small Hotel," "I Wish I Were In Love Again," "My Funny Valentine," "Where Or When," "The Lady Is A Tramp," "Spring Is Here," "Falling In Love With Love," "Sing For Your Supper," "This Can't Be Love," "I Didn't Know What Time It Was," "It Never Entered My Mind," "Bewitched," "I Could Write A Book," "Nobody's Heart," and "Wait Till You See Her."
Vince Giordano's passion for music from the 1920's & 30's, and the people that made it, began at age 5. He has amassed an amazing collection of over 60,000 band arrangements, 1920's and 30's films, 78 recordings and jazz-age memorabilia. Giordano's passion, commitment to authenticity, and knowledge led him to create a sensational band of like-minded players, the Nighthawks. For over 40 years, Vince Giordano has single-handedly kept alive a wonderful genre of American music that continues to spread the joy and pathos of an era that shaped our nation. Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks can be heard on the soundtracks of films including The Cotton Club, The Aviator, Finding Forrester, Revolutionary Road, and on TV on HBO's Boardwalk Empire.
Texas native Kat Edmonson grew up listening to the Great American Songbook. She has performed alongside Willie Nelson and Lyle Lovett and been featured on "The Tonight Show," "Austin City Limits" and NPR's "All Things Considered." To date, Edmonson has released three albums to critical acclaim, Take To the Sky, Way Down Low and The Big Picture. She is currently working on a new album that is scheduled for release in 2017.

It opened June 14, 1978 at the Public Theater and later moved to the Circle in the Square for a total of 1,165 performances, making it one of the most successful Off-Broadway musicals of all time. The book and lyrics are by Gretchen Cryer, who also starred as the lead character Heather Jones in the original production, with music by Nancy Ford. The show follows Jones as she puts together her new cabaret act featuring songs about her own empowerment (she's just been through a bitter divorce), much to the dismay of her director who tries to convince her to go back to her old act. The show was nominated for Drama Desk Awards for Outstanding Music and Outstanding Lyrics, and its cast album received a Grammy nomination. Recordings of Cryer and Ford's Off-Broadway musicals Now Is the Time for All Good Men (1967) and The Last Sweet Days of Isaac (1970) are also available from Masterworks Broadway. I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It on the Road – Original Off-Broadway Cast Recording will be released on August 8, with streaming and downloads available the same day.
In Alice Through The Looking Glass, Elsie Simmons and Moose Charlap set Lewis Carroll's timeless classic to music for the NBC television special. First aired November 6, 1966, the star-studded production included Ricardo Montalban, Agnes Moorehead, Jack Palance, Jimmy Durante and the Smothers Brothers. The Television Soundtrack of Alice Through The Looking Glass will be officially released for the first time on CD in the U.S. September 9, with streaming and downloads available the same day.

NEW YORK, June 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Boston progressive folk duo Tall Heights have announced the release of their debut major label LP, Neptune, out August 19 on Sony Music Masterworks. Neptune is the follow up to 2015's Holding On, Holding Out EP which was met with critical acclaim from outlets like NPR and Wall Street Journal who compared their emotive harmonies and poignant lyrics to the likes of Simon & Garfunkel, Sigur Ros and Bon Iver. Of particular note is the track "Spirit Cold", the lead single from the forthcoming release which has quickly reached over 5.6 Million streams on Spotify. This week, Stereogum premiered the lush, winsome follow up single "River Wider". We encourage you to post and share here!
The multi-talented singer songwriters, composers, and instrumentalists featuring Paul Wright on cello/vocals and Tim Harrington on acoustic guitar/vocals got their start busking on the streets of Boston, growing up in a neighboring town in Massachusetts. Neptune is a far lusher construct than those early acoustic days — along with pristine and emotive vocal harmonies, there's subtly chugging electric guitar and a spare descending bassline on "Iron in the Fire," ethereal synthesizers and a spacious drum part on "Spirit Cold," a brittle splash of percussion to open "Backwards and Forwards" and feedback created by two cellphones on "Cross My Mind."
The band is on tour all Summer through Autumn including an opening slot for José González. See full list of dates HERE. For a taste of Tall Heights' captivating live show, watch the band's stunning live performance of album single "Spirit Cold" HERE.

The release of "ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway" follows the recording artist's nine-city August North American concert tour: THE MUSIC…THE MEM'RIES…THE MAGIC! during which she will perform hits from her ground-breaking career.
The greatest star to ever come out of Broadway, Streisand returns to her roots with "ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway." The legendary performer rose to unprecedented fame while starring on Broadway beginning with her stage debut in "I Can Get It For You Wholesale" in 1962 and then as comedienne Fanny Brice in the Broadway production of "Funny Girl" in 1964, earning Tony nominations for both turns. Streisand's very first record album, 1963's "The Barbra Streisand album," which earned Grammys for Album of the Year and Best Female Vocal Performances, featured several Broadway standards. In 1985 Streisand released "The Broadway Album" and in 1993 "Back to Broadway;" both albums went multi-platinum.
With the longest span of number one albums in history - six decades - Streisand has recorded 52 gold, 31 platinum and 13 multi-platinum albums in her career. She is the only woman to make the All-Time Top 10 Best Selling Artists list. With the release of her last album, "Partners," Streisand has had 33 albums make the Top 10 on the US charts. She is the only female artist to have achieved this milestone, tying her with Frank Sinatra. With ten, Streisand is the female artist with the most number one albums in Billboard's history.
Widely recognized as an icon in multiple entertainment fields, Streisand has attained unprecedented achievements as a recording artist, actor, concert performer, producer, director, author and songwriter. Streisand has been awarded two Oscars, five Emmys, ten Golden Globes, eight Grammys plus two special Grammys, a special Tony award in 1970, and two CableACE Awards – the only artist to receive honors in all of those fields of endeavor. Streisand received the Presidential Medal of Freedom from President Barack Obama this past November. Her many other honors include the American Film Institute's Lifetime Achievement Award, the National Endowment for the Arts Medal, three Peabody Awards and the French Légion d'Honneur. She is also the first female film director to receive the Kennedy Center Honors. Streisand is a devoted philanthropist who works tirelessly to fight for what she believes in. A woman of action, Streisand founded The Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai and co-founded the Women's Heart Alliance, helping to raise awareness and push for more research into women's heart disease, the leading cause of death among women.

Album Is Available Now In CD, Vinyl & Digital Formats
May 23, 2016
NEW YORK, May 23, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bob Dylan's new album, Fallen Angels, is available now in CD, vinyl and digital formats. Showcasing the artist's singular interpretive artistry on twelve classic American songs, Fallen Angels is the 37th studio album from Dylan and the first since last year's Shadows In The Night. Produced by Jack Frost, Dylan's unique approach to recording the songs included refining complicated arrangements for 30-piece orchestras down to those uniquely tailored for his five-piece band. The album can be found at Amazon, iTunes and at all music retail outlets and major streaming services.
Critical response to Fallen Angels has been enthusiastic, with rave reviews coming in from around the globe:
- Randy Lewis wrote in The Los Angeles Times, "[Dylan] immediately liberates songs from the big band/big orchestra world from which they emerged, and in which they are most frequently revisited…. [He] reaches to the blues at the core of many of these songs. Thus, they elicit the ache of romantic yearning and loss that often gets subsumed by swelling orchestral forces, background choirs or by singers who are more focused on crafting elegant vocals than finding emotional resonance."
- Entertainment Weekly's Jim Farber opined, "Dylan alights on these words with a wry delicacy…Tellingly, he delivers these songs of love lost and cherished not with a burning passion but with the wistfulness of experience. They're memory songs now, intoned with a present sense of commitment….Standards likes these and Dylan's own songs now stand as equal American totems."
- In her 5-star review of the album, The Telegraph's Helen Brown wrote, "Like Sinatra — Dylan's always had a knockout knack for putting a lyric across. Whether whispering into your ear in the jingle jangle morning (he wrote most of his own songs at dawn) or snarling at you from the street corner, he made every word matter….Now he inhabits classic lines by songwriters like Johnny Mercer with weathered ease….These recordings have the relaxed intimacy of a band alone, playing on long after the engineer has set the levels."
- Rolling Stone's Will Hermes wrote of Dylan's singing on the album, "His phrasing remains spectacular, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes hilarious" and of the musicianship, "the playing is sublime."
- In another 5-star review, NOW's Vish Khanna wrote, "Dylan highlights the art of crooning, commanding the prettiest version of his multi-faceted, distinctive voice. This album is not a trifle; in some instances, these might well be newly definitive recordings of the songs. Fallen Angels is a hazy, laid-back history lesson with as many enigmatic twists and turns as a classic double-cross caper. It subverts archetypes of romance, heroism and interpersonal connection to reveal something more sinister about human intent, all packaged in beautiful musicianship of the highest order."
Bob Dylan's six previous studio albums have been universally hailed as among the best of his storied career, achieving new levels of commercial success and critical acclaim for the artist. The Platinum-selling Time Out Of Mind from 1997 earned multiple Grammy Awards, including Album Of The Year, while "Love and Theft" continued Dylan's Platinum streak and earned several Grammy nominations and a statue for Best Contemporary Folk album.
Modern Times, released in 2006, became one of the artist's most popular albums, selling more than 2.5 million copies worldwide and earning Dylan two more Grammys. Together Through Life became the artist's first album to debut at #1 in both the U.S. and the UK, as well as in five other countries, on its way to surpassing sales of one million copies. Tempest received unanimous worldwide critical acclaim upon release and reached the Top 5 in 14 countries, while the artist's globe-spanning concert tours of the past few years have heavily emphasized that album's singular repertoire.
Shadows In The Night, on which Dylan paid tribute to Frank Sinatra with distinctive interpretations of ten songs previously recorded by Sinatra, debuted in the Top Ten in 14 countries. The album entered the charts at #1 in the United Kingdom, Sweden and Ireland, #2 in Denmark, the Netherlands and Switzerland, #3 in Austria, Japan and Spain, #6 in Germany and Belgium, #8 in Finland and #10 in Canada. The album also debuted at #6 in the United States, making it the artist's 17th studio album to debut in the Top 10 in this country.
These six releases fell within a 19-year creative span that also included the recording of an Oscar- and Golden Globe-winning composition, "Things Have Changed," from the film Wonder Boys, in 2001; a worldwide best-selling memoir, Chronicles Vol. 1, which spent 19 weeks on the New York Times Best Seller List, in 2004, and a Martin Scorsese-directed documentary, No Direction Home, in 2005. Bob Dylan also released his first collection of holiday standards, Christmas In The Heart, in 2009, with all of the artist's royalties from that album being donated to hunger charities around the world.
In recent years, Bob Dylan was the recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the United States' highest civilian honor. He was awarded a special Pulitzer Prize in 2008 for "his profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power." He was also the recipient of the Officier de la Legion d'honneur in 2013, Sweden's Polar Music Award in 2000, Doctorates from the University of St. Andrews and Princeton University, as well as numerous other honors.
Bob Dylan has sold more than 125 million records around the world.
The Critics Have Listened
Dylan, who also produced under his pseudonym Jack Frost, immediately liberates songs from the big band/big orchestra world from which they emerged, and in which they are most frequently revisited…. Dylan reaches to the blues at the core of many of these songs. Thus, they elicit the ache of romantic yearning and loss that often gets subsumed by swelling orchestral forces, background choirs or by singers who are more focused on crafting elegant vocals than finding emotional resonance.

"[Dylan's] phrasing remains spectacular, sometimes heartbreaking, sometimes hilarious, and the playing is sublime."
Rolling Stone – Will Hermes
Bob Dylan is a great singer…. His skill has always been in connection, in expression, in using his voice to capture the essence of the song he is singing. And with Fallen Angels…Dylan shows how his connection to these songs and to his fans has only grown stronger….Fallen Angels is so well-crafted, the impressive work of a great singer.
Newsday – Glenn Gamboa
Dylan alights on these words with a wry delicacy…Tellingly, he delivers these songs of love lost and cherished not with a burning passion but with the wistfulness of experience. They're memory songs now, intoned with a present sense of commitment….Standards likes these and Dylan¹s own songs now stand as equal American totems.
Entertainment Weekly – Jim Farber
Like Sinatra — Dylan's always had a knockout knack for putting a lyric across. Whether whispering into your ear in the jingle jangle morning (he wrote most of his own songs at dawn) or snarling at you from the street corner, he made every word matter….Now he inhabits classic lines by songwriters like Johnny Mercer with weathered ease….These recordings have the relaxed intimacy of a band alone, playing on long after the engineer has set the levels.
The Telegraph - Helen Brown
Dylan digs back into the treasure trove that is the American songbook. The focus here is generally on breezier fare….There is a loose, playful quality to much of the singing here, and to the tracks, which Dylan produced under his nom de studio, Jack Frost. ….This is what a seasoned performer can do with words and music, whether his own or someone else's. Dylan deserves thanks for reminding us of that, again.
USA Today – Elysa Gardner
Dylan highlights the art of crooning, commanding the prettiest version of his multi-faceted, distinctive voice. This album is not a trifle; in some instances, these might well be newly definitive recordings of the songs. Fallen Angels is a hazy, laid-back history lesson with as many enigmatic twists and turns as a classic double-cross caper. It subverts archetypes of romance, heroism and interpersonal connection to reveal something more sinister about human intent, all packaged in beautiful musicianship of the highest order.

The best-selling female recording artist in history, Streisand partners with some of Hollywood's biggest stars to sing Broadway classics on her upcoming album. Following the release of her 2014 record-breaking "Partners," "ENCORE: Movie Partners Sing Broadway" is Streisand's third and long-awaited Broadway album. Streisand released "The Broadway Album" and "Back to Broadway" in 1985 and 1993, respectfully, both of which went multi-platinum.
With the longest span of number one albums in history, Streisand has recorded 52 gold, 31 platinum and 13 multi-platinum albums in her career. She is the only woman to make the All-Time Top 10 Best Selling Artists list, an honor which includes fellow duet partners Elvis Presley and Billy Joel. Streisand also has the longest span of number one albums in history, just under 50 years.
With her live performances being so rare and special, the excitement surrounding a Streisand tour is unequaled. Following a 27-year hiatus from live concerts, Streisand's 1994 world tour garnered a record-setting 5 million phone requests to Ticketmaster and sold out within the first hour. Her shows in fall 2006 broke house records in 14 of the 16 venues in which she played (in the other two arenas, Streisand already held the buildings' records).
Streisand's last tour in 2012, BACK TO BROOKLYN, highlighted an emotional return to performing in concert in her home borough for the first time since she was in grade school. Of the first of her Brooklyn shows, which helped inaugurate the brand new Barclays Center, The New York Times praised Streisand's "spellbinding voice" and noted, "Like few singers of any age, she has the gift of conveying a primal human longing in a beautiful sound." The Los Angeles Times said she "put the audience immediately under the spell of her folksy grandiosity. Streisand ... isn't just a star — she's a world view, a style of being, an entire cosmology, with the highest possible thread-count sheets. You don't just come for the music; you come for the whole church service. The sermon, broken up into bits, is inseparable from the songs."
Following a North American run, the tour broke records throughout Europe, and culminated in two spine-tingling performances in Israel, thrilling crowds who "loved her even before a perfectly-pitched note came out of her mouth," as described by Haaretz, "and every note was, indeed perfect."
A woman of action, Streisand founded The Barbra Streisand Women's Heart Center at Cedars-Sinai, helping to raise awareness and push research into women's heart disease, the leading cause of death among women.

CEREMONY SET FOR DECEMBER 10 AT UNITED NATIONS HEAD OFFICE IN NEW YORK
Dec 8, 2014
NEW YORK, Dec. 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- In recognition of his artistic contributions and political activism, Guitarist Edgey Pires of The Last Internationale will be honored at the 2014 PORTUGUESE-BRAZILIAN AWARDS. The artist receives this esteemed honor amongst a total of 20 Portuguese and Brazilian actors, cultural influencers, journalists, and other trailblazers. The gala ceremony takes place at the United Nations head office in New York City on December 10, 2014.
Edgey graduated from college with a degree in Political Science and went on to write two books, Fighting for Freedom: Because A Better World is Possible (Planting Seeds Press) and Negative Dialectics: How to Accurately Interpret the World (unpublished). This marks a significant milestone for both Edgey and the critically acclaimed New York band.
"The UN is where Che Guevara delivered an incendiary speech against US imperialism. It is where Hugo Chaves, decades later, gave a similar speech in which he condemned 'the devil', George W. Bush, who had spoken from the same podium the day before. It is where KRS ONE went to get Hip Hop officially recognized as an international culture. It is where the Security Council vote on which poor, innocent people in remote parts of the world will get bombs dropped on their heads. It is outside of this building that I have held many banners and shouted for human rights and seen many of my fellow Comrades get tear-gassed, pepper-sprayed, beat and dragged off by police," said Edgey. "So when I found out that I was being given the Luso-Brazilian Award at the UN for my artistic achievements and social activism, I was as much shocked as I was honored to be included on the right side of this contentious history. Since the event falls on Human Rights Day, I will also be standing outside (once again) demanding that we get some human rights right here at home. I urge everyone from around the world to head out into the streets and fight for a different world."
During the evening, the PORTUGUESE-BRAZILIAN AWARDS bestows a statue and a diploma upon all honorees. The event aims to bolster and encourage Portuguese and Brazilian communities in the U.S. through recognizing the culture's luminaries and their respective contributions.
This news concludes a monumental year for The Last Internationale. They recently unveiled their star-studded music video for "A Wanted Man" and performed a powerful "Call For Action" show regarding Prop 47 in South Los Angeles. They are now gearing up to launch a campaign around the rising Student Debt Crisis. The band is passionate about this issue and is planning a more formal announcement early next year.
The Last Internationale first emerged in 2013 with their independent EP, New York, 'I Do Mind Dying. Legendary Rage Against The Machine guitarist Tom Morello made an introduction between Delila Paz and Edgy Pires and his longtime bandmate Brad Wilk. The drummer ended up joining the group, and they unleashed We Will Reign this past summer. They've performed on The Late Show with David Letterman and recently supported Robert Plant on tour.
